My Review:

We Ride Titans is the collected volume of the comic series from Vault Comics. It focuses on a family who rides "Titans", which are essentially giant robots, in the same vein as Pacific Rim - like human-piloted Transformers. The story is told predominantly from Kit's point of view. Her brother is running into some major issues, her family isn't as strong as it used to seem, and she has to be the glue that keeps them running - and her city safe.

This comic combines action and family drama into one fun, cohesive adventure. The action is fun, the drama is believable, and the climax is STUNNING. I really enjoyed seeing this family's skeletons get pulled out of the closet and put on display. The ending isn't quite what I expected - and I appreciate that so much. I love when a story takes a twist that I'm not able to predict. It doesn't happen super often, which always makes the reading experience more enjoyable.

I really liked the artwork in this comic. I like the blend of dusty tones with vibrant tones and I love the contrast of human (organic) and the titans (machine). The art matches with the story perfectly, allowing it to do its part in telling the events. It doesn't detract and it doesn't overtake the writing - the balance is fantastic, making for a very effective narrative overall.

I really enjoyed We Ride Titans and would actually love to see more of this world. I'd love to see the next step in the titan's evolution when it comes to protecting humanity. To be honest, I also just want to see some more kaiju - I'm a sucker for a good kaiju story! I give We Ride Titans a Lone Star rating of ✯✯✯✯. This has been one of my favorite recent stories from Vault Comics and I'm definitely going to be looking into more of Dean and Piriz's work!
