Summary
The books I read this month were mostly comics since I'm still working as a comic news writer. At the beginning of the month I read a few library books, including some sewing and nutrition/food books. The only literary work I was able to read this month was the first complete volume of Sherlock Holmes. I've been wanting to read about Sherlock's original adventures for a long time, so this was a long time coming.
Otherwise, it is all comics this month. I read three major events to do some catch-up and current readings. These include DC's Dark Nights: Metal, Dark Nights: Death Metal, and Future State. All of these are leading up to the next era of DC continuity, so I wanted to be sure to have each one in my arsenal. I've been regularly reading the Digital First series Let Them Live! on DC Universe, which has proven to be really silly and more of a variety series with new characters being focused on each issue.
I finished catching up on Immortal Hulk from Marvel, because this series has been recommended to me a lot. I have also written a couple articles based on it, so I want to stay on top of it. I read a few new single issues, such as Power Pack and a few issues from Wolverine: Origins and Weapon H for more specific articles. I'm still working on catching up on my X-Men reading, since I've really fallen behind there. Another cool Marvel read this month was Amazing Spider-Man: Family Business which is a graphic novel that introduces Spider-Man's sister. I'm spending some time writing about her at work too.
I also read a couple of offshoots, including Battle Chasers, which is a comic from the 90s that was never finished by the author. Additionally, the first several issues of Crossover from Image Comics, which does something new with superheroes and the idea of multiverses and reality.
Next month I'm hoping to keep catching up on some titles I've missed from before, while staying on top of new releases.
